SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN
are Princeton Elks Major Concern

As Elks, we tend to find our niche in helping others. I found myself drawn to helping our Special Needs Children. I am committed to helping families that do not know where to turn. They know their children need help but are overwhelmed and do not know what to do. As the Special Children’s Committee Chairman my goal is to help special needs children fit into their community the best way they can. Our goal is to help our special friends to be productive members of society so they can have a happy typical life.

The Elks donates to the Somerset Children’s Center. The Children’s Center offers Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Art Therapy. Social Skills Program(s) are available on-site through our alliance with a local provider.

The Somerset Children’s Center is dedicated to providing therapeutic services and developmental programs to children with special needs. We are a child-centric, non-hospital facility best known for our holistic, one-on-one therapeutic services that result in measurable success for the child. We continue to explore new and exciting programs to enhance our portfolio of services to benefit our client’s needs.

All therapists at the Somerset Children’s Center are New Jersey licensed and highly trained in their specialties. Children are typically evaluated on an individual basis by a therapist who is uniquely qualified to help them reach their maximum potential by developing therapeutic approaches to help them achieve their goals.

We are also very proud of our Elks Camp Moore. It is the leading specialist camp in New Jersey for children and young adults with special needs and disabilities. Owned and operated by the New Jersey State Elks Association we ensure there is a barrier-free summer residential camp respite program for children and young adults between the age of 7 and 21 years old. Campers have the opportunity to participate in a one week (Sunday - Saturday) residential/overnight camp program focusing on socialization through recreation allowing for increased independence, self - esteem, and respite opportunities. The majority of the campers are offered a 1 staff to 1 camper ratio ensuring that individual attention, personal care, behavioral management, program adaptation, and camper/family satisfaction is at the center of the staff’s responsibilities.
